While the fashion world still has a ways to go when it comes to promoting diversity on the runways and in the pages of our favorite magazines, more and more designers and brands have been embracing the industry’s growing body-acceptance movement and hiring models that don’t adhere to the under-size-four norm lately. And the 10 plus-size stunners spotlighted below are leading the charge—starring in controversial campaigns, fronting fashion glossies and snapping up other jobs once reserved for women with one specific body type. [San Juan Moda] Day 5: Dominicana Moda + Plus Fashion

The evening began with designers from Dominicana Moda, the official alliance of San Juan Moda in the Carribean. Moises Quesada presented his collection “Marie Vit“. Which featured edgy sports wear with midi shorts and sexy transparent designs. The designer has always been known to create a show stopping runway and this didn’t cease to surprise.

Another designer from Dominicana Moda that presented last night was Jose Jhan and his collection ‘Dream in Marrakech’. With his dessert inspired collection, he presented a wide rage of tans and blues. Featuring nature inspired prints, lots of natural fibers and leather. As always the designers tailoring was impeccable and styling on point.

I’m very excited to say that this is the first official plus presentation in a major fashion event on the island. San Juan Moda again breaks the barriers and presented designers Carlos Reyes, Elda Samano, Emmanuel Acosta, Javier Arnaldo, Osvaldo Morales, Patricia Rivera and Lizet Míró that showcased an impressive array of designs. From maxi dresses, frocks, tunics, ball gowns and ready to wear designs. The wide variety of design presented last nigh gave the modern plus woman a diverse selection to show off her personal style.

Being a plus woman in the fashion industry, I hope that the organization continues to present designers with plus creations and as always keep up with the mentality of being innovative and current with the times. I can’t wait for the next season and see what they have in-store and hope that my new project can be featured in the next season. Stay tuned!
