[San Juan Moda] Day 6: Miriam Budet, Sonia Rivera + Jaer Caban

The always unpredictable Miriam Budet presented a minimalistic and highly impressive collection calle “Mar de Cristal”. Beautiful silhouettes and body conscious designs that flatter every body shape graced the catwalk. Emerald tones, shades of blue an ocean inspired colors complimented the collection. Dresses with texture that replicated ocean waves, sweaters and jackets with detailing that were similar to coral reefs were essential in her collection.

The always elegant Sonia Rivera and her collection “Reine Noire” presented a beautifully goth inspired collection. Figure flattering silhouettes and sensual corsets are a signature staple of the designer and it wasn’t surprising that the focus of the collection were around those elements. The closing of the show was breathtaking as she sent a model down the catwalk in a cape that covered her dress and face that left us to eager to imagine what was under it. The Model took off the cape and graces a beautifully adorned white and silver dress with elegantly beaded fringe; daring femininity in full splendor.

Designer Jaer Caban and his collection ‘Canvas’ was as unique as usual. The designer playful and colorful designs were a delight. As always the designer and his avant garde take to aesthetics is what pushed his collection to the edge of perfection; paint splattered hands and accessories were out of the box and refreshing. The young designer has a promising and decadent career ahead of him, I can’t wait to see what he presents next season.

[San Juan Moda] Day 5: Dominicana Moda + Plus Fashion

The evening began with designers from Dominicana Moda, the official alliance of San Juan Moda in the Carribean. Moises Quesada presented his collection “Marie Vit“. Which featured edgy sports wear with midi shorts and sexy transparent designs. The designer has always been known to create a show stopping runway and this didn’t cease to surprise.

Another designer from Dominicana Moda that presented last night was Jose Jhan and his collection ‘Dream in Marrakech’. With his dessert inspired collection, he presented a wide rage of tans and blues. Featuring nature inspired prints, lots of natural fibers and leather. As always the designers tailoring was impeccable and styling on point.

I’m very excited to say that this is the first official plus presentation in a major fashion event on the island. San Juan Moda again breaks the barriers and presented designers Carlos Reyes, Elda Samano, Emmanuel Acosta, Javier Arnaldo, Osvaldo Morales, Patricia Rivera and Lizet Míró that showcased an impressive array of designs. From maxi dresses, frocks, tunics, ball gowns and ready to wear designs. The wide variety of design presented last nigh gave the modern plus woman a diverse selection to show off her personal style.

Being a plus woman in the fashion industry, I hope that the organization continues to present designers with plus creations and as always keep up with the mentality of being innovative and current with the times. I can’t wait for the next season and see what they have in-store and hope that my new project can be featured in the next season. Stay tuned!

It was such a unique show that we saw the traditional bride in ethereal and elegant designs, showcasing her  romantic sensibility. The modern bride that is current to the times and not afraid to push the boundaries with fashionable and contemporary style and the avant-garde woman that doesn’t bound herself to the traditional gown and has a much more edgy approach to her bridal trousseau.
